From: Orkan on 27 Apr 2010 10:52 Hi, It's been some time since I dealt with a Solaris box so I need some help about patching. I've a server on Solaris 10 u1 state and want to patch it to u4 (at least). I have a 8/07 (u4 state) installation cd but no network connection. Is it possible to do a patch update (not an os upgrade) with cd? Or should I download all the patches (or the patch bundle) and upgrade from that one? Thank you in advance. Regards, orkan

However why do you want to apply all the patches rather than just upgrade to U4, which you *can* do with the media.

If I where you I would backup the machine and then do a u8(1009) upgrade install or if you have good control of the machine clean install on a new disk then install the software you currently have on the new disk since the disk you have now must have a few years of service and can fail soon. /michael |
