From: Salmon Egg on 27 Jan 2010 04:51 I happened to spot a folder icon with the same name as my boot drive, HD. I do not know how it got created. I should point out that my vision is limited. Moreover, I am trying to get Lightweight IDE to work, so some hidden corners of my computer may have been examined. When I double clicked on the HD folder, I got the same display of files as if I had clicked HD volume. It was as if the HD folder were an alias for the HD volume. Later on, I created an alias for the HD volume and got an alias with a hard drive icon, not a folder icon. I got information from the HD folder and found it to be empty. I warily moved the folder to the trash. The HD volume seemed to work well. So, perhaps foolishly, I emptied the trash. Everything seems to be OK. Although my immediate problem with the HD folder is solved, I still am antsy that such a peculiarity arose. Although it is not worth much thought, I am always surprised by some of the arcane knowledge tucked away in the brains of posters lurking here. How can such a thing have happened? Bill -- An old man would be better off never having been born.
