From: MusoNZ on 1 Mar 2010 17:47 Hi there I'm looking for a cost-effective software solution for managing an increasing number of photos (around 10,000) in such a way that multiple users on our LAN can access the photo database simultaneously. We tried Photoshop Elements and had problems with database corruption when more than one person tried to access the database. Photoshop CS4 is getting out of our price range. Many of the other programs (eg Picasa) are single user only. We need an editing/organising solution, like PSE, but suitable for multiple users (say a maximum of 10)simultaneously. We're running WinXP on a server2k8 network. thanks for any help you can offer Mark.

Is there a particular reason you need an 'organising solution' rather than simply use a hierarchical directory structure to organize them?

From: c_atiel on 2 Mar 2010 18:22 One simple solution is to install something like the Fast Picture codec pac which will allow users to see thumbnails in Windows Explorer of both raw images and standard file like tif/jpeg etc. Then users can organize on local or network folders to their little heart's desires. If you are going to use this as you propose you should pay/donate for the software. --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: news(a)netfront.net ---
