Hi Experts,

We all know that a picture is worth a 1000 words.

I was thinking of the remote possibility of making
a copy of a device - a black wiring diagram e.g. -
then overlaying it with a white grid, and so
dividing the image into small bits.

Then finally running OCR on the device and posting
it to a NG.

This would work wonders for us NG addicts.

Am I dreaming, or has it happened already?

TIA

Why is this so complicated? What are you trying to achieve?

Moreover... what the heck would OTHERS want with someone else's wiring diagram in a NG? Did all the
world's mail or web servers go down? And why would you need to OCR an image such as that? Isn't
OCR, simply software that recognizes text within an image? I think maybe the OP is talking about
raster to vector imaging software. Digitize it! Convert it to vector then to something else. DWG,
DXF, PDF? Mmmm.

Why not just post a link to the picture which you have put onto a
website of some kind?

missed the original post so apologies and I will tag on here.

You can post picture/image etc but to a *binary* ng. The clue is *binary*
in the name of the ng.

If you want to you can also post a binary to a *non-binary* ng. This
used to be a sure fire way to get your account suspended by your ISP and
would entail much groveling for reinstatement. Its all about bandwidth
and good manners, nobody wants to open up a text ng and find themselves
unwittingly downloading MB's of files.

Use one of the free imagehosting sites instead. This one is hassle free
and quick.
