From: bandi on 1 Jan 2010 18:31 Pegasus, I have about given up. I've been trying to remove Log Off Ken (I'm Ken) from my start menu and keep the blue Shut Down Menu with the 3 choices for many nonths. On 12-15-09 I received some suggestions from Vanguard in this NG which didn't work. They included a use of the Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) which I could never find. Thus, the question from bandi. Now you know. Go here and search for: Remove Logoff from the Start Menu http://www.j79zlr.com/gphome.php Remove Logoff from the Start Menu KEY: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \Policies\Explorer DWORD: StartMenuLogoff = 1 That key does not exist in the registry so you will have to add it and if you need help with that say so. Before modifying the registry, it is a good idea to back it up. Here is a popular free tool for that: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/erunt.html I always suggest a reboot after making such changes to be sure they "stick". If your intent is not to remove Log Off Ken when the Start button is clicked, restate your original issue.

Jose, Thanks so much for your help. I'll TRY to show you what I have at that spot in the right side of the Registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\etc\Explorer: Name Type Data (default) REG_SZ (value not set) New Value REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0) NoLogOff REG_BINARY 01 00 00 00 Hope this makes sense. Don't want to backup Registry as I don't know how I'd use the backup. Will just take my chances. Tell me what to do. Delete the bottom line or 2 lines or what.
