Yep 71% aka (1/sqrt(2)) You get 1/2 the area going from An to A(n+1)
sized paper.
However, you still have to muck about re-ordering the pages so they
appear in the book in the right order.

Cheap Impostor and its cousins are well worth the money avoiding all
that pain and wasted paper and toner.

While the OP is thinking about cost effective purchases, may I
recommend a long arm stapler?

Save it as a PDF file then print from Adobe Reader with Page Scaling set
to Booklet Printing.
