From: Bill Tillick on 21 Jan 2010 22:29 I have just tried to install VO on my new computer, 64-bit, running Windows 7 Professional. I went back to my initial VO1.0c CDROM, but found that Win7 wouldn't run that CD's INSTALL.EXE because of incompatibility. Consequently I went through the process to install XP Mode under Win7 and was then able to go through all the install steps to get back to VO2.5b3. Fortunately I had kept my notes of the steps taken when I first had to reinstall back in 2001. But it will have to run in XP Mode - unless... I would, of course, prefer to install and run in 'native' Windows 7. Is there any way that this can be done, please? Thanks, Bill

Probably because it's a 16bit app and AFAIK 64bit not like that. All you need from the VO1 CD is the CAVO.EXE file (that's all the VO2 installer ever checked for), so you don't need to install VO1 at all (just make the file available on your HD somewhere). Can you run the VO2 CD from Win7?? If so then all you need do is point the installer to the VO1 install.exe on your H/D (or swap CDs) when asked. I don't have W7 (64bit or otherwise), so take the above into account with that knowledge<g> CYA Steve
From: John Martens on 22 Jan 2010 01:56 I think you can skip until the latest but one version you have, get the EXE file there and then run the latest update. From: Ginny Caughey on 22 Jan 2010 07:26 Bill, I just copied the CAVO folder tree to my Win7-64 Pro machine after using the Files and Settings transfer wizard and it works fine. Do you need VO 1 for anything? -- Ginny Caughey www.wasteworks.com "Bill Tillick" <wtillick(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:18b77f6e-944d-4f4e-86d2-353031771551(a)l19g2000yqb.googlegroups.com... > I have just tried to install VO on my new computer, 64-bit, running > Windows 7 Professional. > > I went back to my initial VO1.0c CDROM, but found that Win7 wouldn't > run that CD's INSTALL.EXE because of incompatibility. > Consequently I went through the process to install XP Mode under Win7 > and was then able to go through all the install steps to get back to > VO2.5b3. Ginny, That sounded like a good solution. I found that I had to use the new Windows Easy Transfer program, as Files and Settings transfer wizard wasn't available on Windows 7. I have transferred everything from my old CAVO25 directories and manually adjusted the Path as I thought that might cause a problem What happens when I run CAVO25.exe is that the splash screen comes up, then sometimes the program asks for the VO System Settings Paths, but then just hangs with the Win7 circular "wait" cursor showing. Is theer anything else that I need to do, please? Your help much appreciated.
