From: Ian Gregory on 19 Apr 2010 17:21 I downloaded "Patent Absurdity" (High Quality) from here: http://patentabsurdity.com/download.html It is an ogv file and wasn't recognised so I installed the Perian QuickTime component in my account: http://perian.org/ Now it is recognised and when I select the .ogv icon and hit the space bar to invoke Quick Look it plays fine. When I double click the icon it opens in QuickTime player, but the video does not start playing, it just displays "Loading Movie..." and hangs there. Any ideas? Grabbing that and opening the Disk Image gives me XiphQT.component and ReadMe.rtf which tells me to put it in Library/Components in my home directory. But I already had XiphQT.component in there (whether it was put there when I installed the Perian Pref Pane or it came from somewhere else I don't know). So that doesn't help. If I rename XiphQT.component then the video no longer plays in Quick Look and when I restore it it does, but I still get the "Loading Video..." hang when I double click it to open in QuickTime Player. Clearly my XiphQT.component is working, otherwise it would not play the video in Quick Look, but for some reason it doesn't play in the QuickTime player. I guess I should look for another .ogv file and see if I get the same problem. Ian -- Ian Gregory http://www.zenatode.org.uk/

I left Quicktime Player (X) alone, but also set Quicktime Player 7 to be the default.
