Hello,

I have tested the various samples (Oskar Schneider, Erik Visser ...)
for RP3 and hardcoded reports and they all work fine. After thatI I
tried to print with these samples a report created by the designer
(ReportPro 3.9). I added the library RP3 Runtime OLEControl, made an
instance of the class rp3Runtime and called the method CreateEmbedding
("ReportPro.Runtime"), but the method always returns false. It seems
not to work, but it should - otherwise the samples don't have any
sense. So what is going wrong? Can anybody help me?

Stefan,

Phil Mcguiness did an article/session paper about report pro.
Perhaps this has something you are looking for?

Erik,

I know this article. I suppose that with this technique you cannot use
the ActiveX anymore, but you have to print all the reports (handcoded
and painted) with it. I think that I have misunderstood it initially.

Stephan,

I use the approach from the article with RP3 from VO and Vulcan. I do not
use any hardcoded reports, just painted. I do not use the axtiveX at all.
The reportserver just returns a report object and I use the same methods
that you would use if you were writing directly from classmate. It really
works well.

Willie

As Willie says.

You do not need to use ActiveX, I do it all the time too.
But if you want to combine both techniques, I do not think it is impossible.
