From: James on 28 Mar 2010 20:04 Hi All, I have a SBS 2003 server with all clients as Vista Sp2. Most users can connect to their PCs remotely via RWW. 2 PCs have recently started giving a VBSCRIPT "An internal error has occured", when any user tries to connect. I can connect to the PCs directly using RDP, just not via RWW. I've tried disabling firewall and antivirus, with no change. What should I do?
From: SuperGumby [SBS MVP] on 28 Mar 2010 21:07 I normally see "An internal error has occured" only if I'm patching anything related to IIS when remotely connected to the server. The message is generated when IIS is stopped by the patching process. I suppose the message could be generated if traffic to/from the server was disrupted for some reason but 'ISP link saturation' normally results in a different message. Just to be sure though, what speed do you have up/down at the server end and how many users would be active at the time? Does it happen if you ensure only a single user is attempting access? Alternately, anything in the logs about IIS errors? Possibly IIS web applications erroring and restarting? From: James on 28 Mar 2010 22:04 there is a 2mb/2mb internet link, without much activity on it at the moment. I get the same error, even when connecting via RWW internally on the LAN, I can connect to any other PC fine, just not the 2 PCs having the issue. I can connect via RDP to the PCs without a problem. I've tried rebooting the SBS server, and affected PCs, no difference. No errors that I can see in the logs. I thought that it may have been a DNS issue. I did have a previous issue where a dns query would return an incorrect ip, doesn't seem to be the case here though. From: "Robbin Meng [MSFT]" on 30 Mar 2010 03:44 Hello James, Thanks for your post and Gumby's suggestions. For this "An internal error has occured" error message, please rectify the problem by editing the following registry key on these workstations and restart the machine.
