Prev: Unable to open .docx files after conducting March 2010Microsoft Update
Next: Updates KB978474 and KB979771 downloaded but will not install
From: Peter Forrest Peter on 12 Mar 2010 10:34 Windows update is failing to successfully install the updates KB978382, KB978380, & KB979895. The error code received is Code 646, on my Windows Vista Ultimate (SP 2) PC. Scans of the Help forums seems to indicated to solve the problem, I can simply download and install the update manually, but this does not determine the original problem. I want to resolve this issue so Windows can update automatically and I don't need to interfere. I attempted an install after disabling my firewall software on both the PC and Wireless Router, but this was not successful either. Is there something with the router that prevents the install happening correctly?

I must have tried most of the so called "fixes" and none have worked. --- frmsrcurl: http://msgroups.net/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/Receiving-Code-646-when-installing-KB978382-KB978380-KB979895 |
