From: Oppie on 29 Jan 2010 09:59 One of my two boxes running XP Pro has developed a problem with the Recycle bin. The bin shows as empty. I delete something and get the normal dialog if you want to send it to the recycle bin, reply Yes and it vanishes. Recycle bin still shows empty icon and opening the bin shows no contents. Running disc cleanup shows that the recycle bin has 0 KB. It's almost like doing a shift del (bypassing the recycle bin and directly deleting) but I do get the delete confirmation dialog that specifies recycle bin. Any ideas on how to fix this? tia - Oppie

From: Oppie on 29 Jan 2010 10:57 Yes, I did check that. Global tab > Use one setting for all drives > (do not move files to recycle bin...) is unchecked. This is on both of my XP Pro machines. The newer of the two is working properly. The older one that ran Norton AV at one point (with protected recycle bin) is the one that has the problem. Norton was replaced by Trend Micro OfficeScan (by our company) about 2 years ago. Never had the problem until recently. Would guess that something is strange in the Registry and was affected by recent updates.
