ok. but Tasks in not the problem. I still have lots of duplicates in
my To Do List.

Do you have duplicates of Tasks or messages and other flagged items? If
tasks, are they duplicated in Task folders? Did you try deleting the
duplicates?

BTW - if you don't want them showing in the todo list, create a filter for
them. But - the easiest way to remove true duplicates is to delete them.

I'd probably mark the duplicates complete and set a filter to hide completed
items.
