Well, I tried what you suggested and was having more problems (suddenly
unable to ping machine) so I decided just to rebuild from the startup image
and everything works fine now. Thanks for you help. I am still wondering
what happened, although trying to find that issue buried deep into MS
networking is probably not the way I wanted to spend the next month :)
