From: John on 11 May 2010 18:03 Hi sbs 2003 standard in a typical two nic configuration. Our internal nic has started playing up, how can we replace it with a new nic in a way that sbs configuration keeps working as before? Many Thanks Regards

From: Chucko on 11 May 2010 23:42 As Larry pointed out, there are more than one way to do this, but you'll probably end up with a working system that will still have some issues (Incorrect LANNIC entry error, run SBSBPA to get the specifics after your system is up and running after the NIC swap). Look here for the fix (method 3, even if it does not look like it applies): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875422/en-us "Larry Struckmeyer[SBS-MVP]" <lstruckmeyer(a)mis-wizards.com> wrote in message news:4e683515f86f8ccbf4fc409778d(a)news.microsoft.com... > Hi John: > > Here is an approach imortalized by MVP Kevin Weilbacher: > > > http://msmvps.com/blogs/kwsupport/archive/2006/12/30/replacing-nics-on-an-sbs-server.aspx > > > - > Larry > Please post the resolution to your > issue so others may benefit > - > Get Your SBS Health Check at > www.sbsbpa.com > > >> Hi >> >> sbs 2003 standard in a typical two nic configuration. >> >> Our internal nic has started playing up, how can we replace it with a >> new nic in a way that sbs configuration keeps working as before? >> >> Many Thanks >> >> Regards >> > >
From: Charlie Russel - MVP on 12 May 2010 10:16 Ultimately, you don't need to do that loopback trick, Larry. I tested this every which way but Sunday a while back and came to the conclusion that this simply overcomplicates the issue. Shutdown the server, physically replace the NIC, restart the server. Go out to lunch, come back, it should have timed out and you can log in. If the new new NIC needs a driver, install it. IAC, once it is "seen", simply assign it the same fixed IP address (ignore warnings) and re-run the CEICW. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/russel "Larry Struckmeyer[SBS-MVP]" <lstruckmeyer(a)mis-wizards.com> wrote in message news:4e683515f86f8ccbf4fc409778d(a)news.microsoft.com...

I've done it Charlie's Way also But I think I had to run the "Change the IP Wizard in addition to the CEICW" (even though I didn't change the IP I kept it the same) Russ -- Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] MCP, MCPS, MCNPS, SBSC Small Business Server/Computer Support - www.SBITS.Biz Question or Second Opinion - www.PersonalITConsultant.com BPOS - Microsoft Online Services - www.BPOSMadeEasy.com "Charlie Russel - MVP" <Charlie(a)mvKILLALLSPAMMERSps.org> wrote in message news:erdP82d8KHA.3176(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Ultimately, you don't need to do that loopback trick, Larry.
