Need a viewer for files with extension log

Tried LogViewer, it didn't.

Need a small no-install app. Preferably work in both W2K and W98.

Yes, the file in question did open in a text editor, may work with other
log files. If so, puzzled as to why special log file viewers?

Many are also designed to work with specific plain text log files, such
as Apache web server logs for example. They may do a variety of things,
such as colorize different types of log messages, highlight warning or
error messages, etc. Some may also interpret the data in your log files
and present you with data summaries.

The Apollo log viewer (for web server logs) has a nice little Flash
demonstration if you'd like something more visual.

You can find the Flash demo at (Flash8 req.):

Very true - just illustrating a working example in regards to the "why?"
posed above. I'm not sure exactly what type of log it is he's dealing
with, he didn't say. I think he's looking for something similar to the
"Kiwi Log Viewer," that would allow him to specify his own criteria for
data highlighting/bolding/etc. using regular expressions. Kiwi
advertises both freeware and payware versions and can be downloaded at:
http://www.kiwisyslog.com/kiwi-log-viewer-downloads/

Kiwi however requires installation. I found an alternative that does
not require installation called ABLogFile. It's not as pretty but it
does give similar function. ABLogFile can be found at:
http://www.codeproject.com/tools/ablogfile.asp

And naturally if regex'ing the log file to highlight specific data isn't
necessary...I'd just associate ".log" files with Notepad.
