From: shank on 24 Apr 2010 11:36 I bought a used HP LaserJet 2100TN printer with an HP JetDirect4169J ethernet device. I cannot get the JetDirect to reset its IP Address so I can access in our network. I've googled and the only resolve I can find is possibly adding an IP address to our network with Route Add, then accessing that IP with browser and change manually. I can't get the Route Add command to work. I've pasted the printer config as well as our network IP addresses. Does anyone have experience with Route Add that can help with the syntax? I'm getting different errors everytime I change something. Thanks! route add 10.103.200.173 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.1 This prints out from the printer... From: JohnB on 24 Apr 2010 13:30 Do you know what the IP address of the JetDirect is? If not, a test page will tell you. Then you can set your PC/Laptop to a static IP address on the same subnet, and use a crossover cable from your PC to the JetDirect, and set it to what ever you want... provided you can HTTP or Telnet into it, and set it to whatever you want. I could see my computer and printer when I scanned the network. But it would not let me HTTP in or TELNET in. Results were page not found or network path not there. Anything else I can try? thanks!

If the JetDirect has been disallowed web access, here is how to reset it to factory defaults, then use a browser to connect to it. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpj02300&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25472&locale=en_US If your workstation is Vista or Win7, I assume you've chosen "work" as the connection type. Can you ping 10.103.200.150? Ace

No joy. I have WinXP. There's no LCD panel on the LJ 2100 so I can't get any real feedback. The lights do cycle. The closest I've been able to get is to set my computer's IP to static and on the similar network as the JetDirect. I can ping and see the printer, but I can't open any admin with browser, or Telnet. I get page not found. I've spent so much time on it, I'll likely buy a new one to end the pain. But I'd sure like to know how to reset it. thanks! |
