yes, sas works very well with vbox + xp guest. i've been using it for a
while at the cost of a little sacrifice on performance.

It does work amazingly well. With the latest release of Vbox,
http://www.virtualbox.org/ I don't notice much in the way of a performance
hit with small data sets. I really like the integration of the two OS's the
most though. It gives me the opportunity to develop and test on two
platforms much easier than I could ever have imagined.
