I don't have any experience with linux, but the following thread, from a
different list, may be of some help:

Hi,

It is sort of possible, but very unstable to run SAS in WINE. I
haven't tried SAS 9.1, but I did get 8.2 running several years ago.

I looked into running SAS on LINUX a year or so ago and from what I recall
SAS is only officially supported on Red Hat and SUSE, not on Ubuntu. It
was also so hedged around with caveats about which versions of the distros
would work with which SAS products that we gave up on the idea as too
unreliable for production use.

The support situation may have changed since then but I'd recommend
putting in a support call to check.

This might be a work around but it won't get you out of having to license XP
or some other MS product. You can use SUN's VirtualBox as a VM running XP.
Once you install the Guest additions, you can run your VM in seamless mode
and copy and paste between Linux and XP without a problem.

Seamless mode is kind of hard to explain and I did write a short blog
article about VirtualBox and seamless mode back in July. There's also a
screen shot showing the integration of the two OS's.
