From: ABCPoly-JRS on 8 May 2010 10:23 I have setup a virutal server and installed SBS 2008 using the migration process. I created the answer file, setup a virtual fdd and installed SBS 2008. There were no indications of any problems at all until it completed. A windows popped up and told me that the installation was finished and that there were a few non-critical installation issues. I clicked to look at the installation issues and there were 4 separate items 1. Exchange server 2007 cannot be installed. 2. Critical and security updates cannot be installed. 3. Incoming and outgoing e-mail for Windows Sharepoint Services are not configured. 4. Incoiming and outgoing e-mail for Windows Sharepoint Services are not installed. When I click on the error, it tells me nothing except to contact Microsoft Technical Support. Any advice, direction or comments would be appreciated.
From: Kerry Brown on 8 May 2010 12:18 I've seen similar problems when installing SBS 2008 to a Hyper-V virtual machine. The problem was caused by poor I/O of the of the disk system. Make sure you are not using a dynamic vhd. If you are using SATA disks make sure no other virtual machines are running that are using the same disk that the SBS vhd is on. What are the hardware specs of the server and how is the virtual machine configured? -- Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience: Systems Administration http://www.vistahelp.ca/phpBB2/ "ABCPoly-JRS" <ABCPolyJRS(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F95C3AB8-D256-443D-862D-A36990911CE8(a)microsoft.com... > I have setup a virutal server and installed SBS 2008 using the migration > process. When you setup the virtual server, did you insure network communication existed between the virtual server image and the network prior to the migration, and that the original SBS 2003 was online? If the original installatiion is still intact, I would suggest to blow away the failed SBS 2008 installation, and run it again. I have a single Quad Core x64 server class motherboard with a single 1TB RAID 1 and run SBS 2008, Win 2008, Win 2003, XP SP3 and Vista as children all at the same time on that single hardware 1TB RAID-1. -- You can't trust your best friends, your five senses, only the little voice inside you that most civilians don't even hear -- Listen to that.
