From: Maximo on 23 Dec 2009 13:59 This multifunction works just fine under Windows but hooked up to my new Mac (OSX SL 10.6.2), it will only print or fax. Canon tech support says there is no Mac scananer drivers available for this model. I also d/l the Canon driver file from the Apple website-- but they have no scanner driver either. Short of replacing this otherwise fine multifunction-- any suggestions?

Try installing drivers for a similar Canon product that _does_ have Mac support. This worked for me with one of their products. They don't always define "support" the way the customer does. -- Very old woody beets will never cook tender. -- Fannie Farmer

VueScan 8.5.40 (shareware) Scanner software for most scanner brands. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/7610 SilverFast Ai Canon Scan-Software 6.6.0r4 (shareware/commercial) Scanning and image processing. But whether this will work with SL I don't know, it hasn't been updated for Canon since 2008.12.09, so maybe it will, maybe it won't... http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10905406 See also here: http://www.silverfast.com/show/snowleopard/en.html Cheers, Erik Richard -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Erik Richard Sørensen, Member of ADC, <mac-manNOSP(a)Mstofanet.dk> NisusWriter - The Future In Multilingual Text Processing - www.nisus.com OpenOffice.org - The Modern Productivity Solution - www.openoffice.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Take a look at the Sane Project http://www.sane-project.org/ A Mac specific page for the project is http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/ It says the support for your multifunction is "good". Enough features are available that it is suitable for daily use, but not all features of the machine is supported. I use Sane with an old Canon scanner, and scan documents into applications like Graphic Converter.

Have you seen whether you can scan from Preview or Image Capture?
