Is it possible to have load balance or HA for an sendmail server
acting as a relay?

You could, for instance, configure DNS to return one of n IP addresses
for maildrop.example.net and have n relays running that way.

There are firewalls (gateways) that do reroute TCP connections based
on load to several relays.

Is that's the direction your question is about?
