This is server is the host to our Netbackup 6.5.4 Server which is our main
backup server for this server enviroment.

I'm encountering an issue where I will come in the morning and randomly the
server will lose the ability to communicate on the network. What makes it
strange is:
-There is still a link light
-I've updated the nic drivers and this problem still continues
-The static ip information is still there
-The DNS information is correct
-I can log into the server without issue locally and according to Windows
Network and Sharing Center there is no issue with the connection.
-All services set to automatic have started up.
-If I restart the nic the problem fixes itself.

I'm going to try re-creating the computer, but I'm out of idea's. There is
one error that keeps re-peating itself in the event log
Log Name: System
Source: Group Policy
Event ID: 1054
Level: Error
User: System
Description: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not obtain
the name of a domain controller. This could be caused by a name resolution
failure. Verify your Domain Name System (DNS) is configured and working
correctly.

The problem is I don't have control or even access to the domain controllers
and it's random.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You state "lose the ability to communicate on the network" but how are you
confirming this? Can you ping by name? by address? What are the symptoms?

The symptons are: Will not respond to ping/rdp. From within the machine,
Static settings are still set, RDP is enabled, but you can't ping, rdp out,
etc.

According to Windows Network Centre the the connection is fine is and other
then the error I specified below there is nothing to indicate something is
wrong.

Thanks.
