The following Terminal command will turn Time Machine off: defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine AutoBackup -bool NO And this one will turn it back on: defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine AutoBackup -bool YES Have SD! run the first one before it starts backing up, and the second one after it finishes. You can tell SD! to do this in Options -> Advanced. -- K. Lang may your lum reek.

But I remain suspicious about the whole "problem": There is no inherent reason that SD! should fail if it and TM run simultaneously -- unless there is something unusual going on that is somehow unique to the way SD! and/or TM interoperate with TC. -- iMac (27", 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD) OS X (10.6.3)

I just now ran a test. First I started Time Machine and then I initiated a SuperDuper! backup of my internal drive directed at a sparse bundle on my Time Capsule which is also the recipient of Time Machine backups. After a couple of seconds the SuperDuper! backup failed. I agree. I'd continue to communicate with Shirt Pocket about this problem, because it still sounds like a SD! bug to me. -- K. Lang may your lum reek.

After making my prior posting in this thread I initiated another SuperDuper! backup of my internal drive, again directing the backup to a sparse bundle on my Time Capsule. Only this time Time Machine was not running at the time of launch of SuperDuper!. This time the backup succeeded.
