Hi folks,
I hope there is somebody who will find this an easy problem:
as I was used to enter Matlab Editor directly through a shortcut bar on the pc desktop with an earlier version, I'd like to create one in R2008b too. Any idea? Previously the shortcut was linked to editor.exe, but now I failed to find any such file.
Thanks!

Thanks, us,
for your reply. I am not aqcuainted to Java methods at all and browsing the documentation etc. didn't show me how to do that. Is it please possible to give a more concrete explanation or a reference where to find it?
Thanks so much!

As us said, the editor is now built-in.

You could create an empty "New.m" file and put that on your desktop or shortcut bar. But clicking on it will start the MATLAB command console as well. So, I don't know what that buys you over starting MATLAB and clicking on File -> New -> *.m file.

Thanks someone and us again. Sorry, I did not realize it immediately from the us post, my fault. So you mean, in fact now it is not possible to use the Editor separately from the Matlab console. That's disappointing...
