route command question I'm trying to migrate from an old box to a new machine, using rsync to port over all the stuff I've collected over the years. But it won't work. Says the target machine doesn't exist and that is trying it both ways. So, looking at the route table, no listing (I'm sure there used to be one). Whatever the case,... 10 Jun 2010 16:46
Boot failure with 13.1 on mixed S-ATA/IDE system Hello everybody, having upgraded my computer's mainboard recently, I also needed to replace my old IDE harddisk with a S-ATA disk, because I needed the one remaining IDE slot on my new mainboard for the DVD-R and DVD-RW drives. So now I've got a mixed configuration, which works perfectly under Windows XP/7. ... 9 Jun 2010 11:56
Upgrade 13.0 -> 13.1 with slackpkg? Hello, For upgrades, I follow the UPGRADE.txt in the root of the cdrom1. But How's the status of upgrading with slackpkg? slack 13.1 kernel & ata devices Finally upgrading an old p3 box running ~slack10 (more or less) to slack13. The box has an artop-based aec pci ide card in it which isn't picked up by either install kernel (i have to use huge.s as hugesmp.s hangs detecting devices on an adaptec scsi card). It appears there's some ide-scsi layer in here though.. as... 6 Jun 2010 09:24

At the step "continute to next CD?" I said No. Now I have a running system, with access to a fast ADSL-line, without X. My plan is to get xorg and openbox going as the window manager. ... 14 Jun 2010 10:37

more on lost password Well it happened again, but this time I was a little better prepared. It seems that my /etc/shadow file got modified somehow. Knowing the time of the new file I was able to go back into my /var/log/messages file to see if anything of interest was happening. It definitely was!
