From: Vjekoslav on 25 Feb 2010 13:11 It has nothing to do with hardware, it's just your OS, which is I presume just instaled and Search Indexer is indexing your data so is slowing system down.Another thing is may be updating OS and other software installed. Just give your mashine a bit of time and I belive it's going to be all fine. Of course, I didn't read all of your message, so can't give you more info. Don't like to give advices blind. One thing is what it says, other is actual situation. Try to help yourself, moving around, trying this and that, and you'll find the solution. Best wishes..... for a good mashine.
From: Steven Sinclair on 26 Feb 2010 14:48 Hmm...yes, perhaps the same day of OS installation, I could expect the system to slow "a little bit," but consistently 10 minutes at the shutdown portion of every single restart...even two weeks after OS installation is a bit ridiculous, wouldn't you say? Oh yeah, and in case it makes a difference, my Windows Experience Index is 7.9 across the board. ;-)
From: Bobby Johnson on 26 Feb 2010 15:43 It's definitely not a characteristic of Windows 7 to be slow either way. You need to look very closely at your system to see if you can discover what is affecting your system. My startup and shutdown with Win 7 x64 Pro is pretty quick but I have never timed it. Probably around two minutes for startup and about a minute for shutdown. I've had my system since late August. From: Tom on 26 Feb 2010 23:59 That actually seems like a long time for a start-up and shutdown in Win7 64bit. I startup in about 25 seconds and shutdown in about 5-10 seconds. Even in XP with my previous PC, I would start-up in about 30 seconds and shutdown in about 5-10 seconds as well. Just a thought...it it just as slow when not connected to any network?
