QT may be getting confused. -- Suddenly he realized that he was alone with a giant halfwit on a dark deserted street. -- Chester Himes

Snow Leopard was an upgrade, as was required by the cheapie price. You are right that there might be some older codec on my system that is not SL compatible and is interfering somehow sometime.... So.... what magic incantation do I perform to see what codecs QT thinks it has available to it? -- - Burt Johnson MindStorm, Inc. http://www.mindstorm-inc.com/software.html

Look in Library/Quicktime, and in YourName/Library/Quicktime. There's also System/Library/Quicktime which you shouldn't mess with but where the MPEG4 component should be. I haven't done much with SL yet, I'll boot it up tomorrow and see how well QT works. I don't like the new player much, though. -- Suddenly he realized that he was alone with a giant halfwit on a dark deserted street. -- Chester Himes

I don't like the new player much, though. The ~/library/Quicktime folder does not exist. The /library/Quicktime has - AppleIntermediateCodec.component - AppleMPEG2Codec.component and nothing else. -- - Burt Johnson MindStorm, Inc. http://www.mindstorm-inc.com/software.html

Mine has three Flip4Mac components, one Perian, and an AC3MovieImport.component, all of which are May 09 or later. So, just install the first two- I don't know where the AC3 came from or what it does. -- John McWilliams
