Many thanks, that did solve the problem.

I had noticed that the error log from the Jigzone applet had "net"
written all over it, but when I tried the "Are you running Java?" at
Java.com the error log didn't have so much "net" in it, so I hadn't
seen a pattern.

Oh well, that's why I'm not a programmer.
