The subject says it all. I've always been a fast and very bad typist
and it's also taking time to get used to my new mac keyboard.

Is there a way / application to link a spell checker to MacSOUP, please?

Not as far as I know :-(

This has been aired before, and always with the same result.

If anyone HAS found out how to do this, I would be very pleased to know!

Spell Catcher (http://www.rainmakerinc.com/) can. It seems to work as a
keyboard input manager thingy.

I got it in one of the recent software bundles. I can't seem to make it just
underline stuff, it simply pops up a window for the bad word as you're
typing. Effective, but a bit distracting.

A bit old-fashioned, but effective: Excalibur will spell-check the
contents of the clipboard, which you can then re-insert into MacSOUP.

It's slightly unnerving because the alterations you ask for are stored
out of sight and only become visible when you do the re-insertion.

I've used it occasionally since OS 9 days -- I don't remember where it
came from!

Yup.

Yup.

I've been using it longer than that - since the System 7.blah days IIRC;
currently on 10.6.3 (C2D iMac).

It was developed as a spelling checker for TeX systems on Macs.

You can find it these days at:

<http://excalibur.sourceforge.net/>

Best to turn LaTeX command parsing off if you're not checking a LaTeX
document.
