Was this changed in SL? I've reindexed Spotlight (first I tried via MainMenu
(the old free version, v. 1.7.4)...but it ran a brief effort -- _too_ brief
to be believable; I then did it via the Privacy window, which ran a
reindexing that lasted several hours). Items in the Trash still don't show
up when I search with Spotlight...but they show up when I use Find Any File.

That's because Spotlight doesn't search the Trash. In effect it has a
built-in privacy rule not to search any user's Trash. I don't recall
this ever being different in earlier versions of Mac OS X.

That's because Find Any File pays no attention to where a file is
located and will find it even if it is in trash.
