From: Cayenne on 11 Jun 2008 17:23 Does it add "natural" ripples or waves?. Well, it does and it doesn't. SR can add water and reflections to the driest dessert but it takes the selected water out of the original image and replaces it with its own plain-water and reflects whatever is in the picture around that area. But with the original water everything that was on or in it (boats- people-fish-green stuff) vanished as well. So, no ripples around my perfect body. But, credit where it's due. My first results were the most "natural" I've seen so far and may, given the amount of options, with a bit of practice no doubt be improved. It's a beautiful toy. Untill I find the ultimate solution, it will do nicely and it's fun to work with. (Standalone) Mr. Bowden, Mr. JoeB, can I sent you flowers? Cayenne I wonder.......

And so as not to hide the boats, or islands or whatever is in the water, make sure they are not included in the selection. Once that is done, you'll also want to play with the transparency slider. There are also adjustments for the size and visibility of the shore reflections. You'll get the hang of it :-) Here are two links. The first is to a page where the banner image with the sailboats doesn't have animated water. The second is a sample of the same page, but look closely and you'll see that the water is animated but the boats are not covered by water. It was done with Sqirls Water Reflection. http://www.crossleyhomes.com/communities_chestermere.html http://www.crossleyhomes.com/communities_chestermere_animated.html > Mr. Bowden, Mr. JoeB, can I sent you flowers? A bottle of scotch would be fine :-) Regards, JoeB

Actually, I only got Sqirls a couple of months ago, and when I installed it I played around with a couple of images, then read some of the Help files, and then played a bit more, then did the animation I pointed you to. I can't quite recall, but I don't think I spent more than an hour or maybe two from installation to experimenting to reading Help to making that animation. You just have to fiddle and experiment a bit. The installation folder also has 2 tutorials in zip files but I haven't looked at them yet. I suspect that if a person really wanted to do a lot of this stuff then spending a couple of hours with Help, whatever tuts are available, and experimenting with how you combine the various types of ripples and what the sliders do, etc., would pay off quite well. It's certainly easier than trying to do the same thing just using Animation Shop. And you can save the result as Flash, AVI or animated GIF. I saved the example I showed you as Flash, because different browsers play animated gifs at different speeds, and they often don't run as smoothly as a flash file does. >>> Mr. Bowden, Mr. JoeB, can I sent you flowers? >> >> A bottle of scotch would be fine :-) >> > Glenmorangie, Balvenie's or any other brand? I've never tried Any Other Brand, but I'll trust you that it's likely a good one so that'll do nicely. Regards, JoeB

That's the answer before I even asked the question. I thought it might be yours. Don't know why. >I can't quite recall, but I don't think I spent more than an hour > or maybe two from installation to experimenting to reading Help to > making that animation. You just have to fiddle and experiment a bit. I'll fiddle allright. I managed to avoid the larger objects but plants are more difficult as they usually wave with the water, but we'll see where the fiddling leads to. > The installation folder also has 2 tutorials in zip files but I haven't > looked at them yet. I did. I downloaded them before installation. As a general impression it helped to find my way for the first steps. > I suspect that if a person really wanted to do a > lot of this stuff then spending a couple of hours with Help, whatever > tuts are available, and experimenting with how you combine the various > types of ripples and what the sliders do, etc., would pay off quite > well. Actually, I was surprised about how powerfull it was and still so inviting to experiment, which might end in a few very short nights. I'm really pleased you pointed me to it and your ripple is exactly the kind I needed. >>> A bottle of scotch would be fine :-) >>> >> Glenmorangie, Balvenie's or any other brand? > > I've never tried Any Other Brand, but I'll trust you that it's likely a > good one so that'll do nicely. You're one of the sorry people who haven't got an any-key either? :-)))) I started out to type "which post-office" but I won't because I'm afraid I know the answer to that one too. Cayenne I wonder.....
