From: dorayme on 8 Mar 2010 23:33 Is there a way to to stop Mail 4.2 from trying to send a message when it obviously cannot use some server and keeps trying? A way to stop the spinning immediately without force quitting program and deleting from outbox? -- dorayme

They suggested opening the activity window and clicking cancel. -- Barry Margolin, barmar(a)alum.mit.edu Arlington, MA *** PLEASE post questions in newsgroups, not directly to me *** *** PLEASE don't copy me on replies, I'll read them in the group ***

Apologies to Steven Fisher. (I've been in state of mild confusion recently, I was unfamiliar with the menu to look in the Window menu but no real excuses!) Thank you for reminding and I will try this next time I am on my Macbook if I ever do need it. But since last night, I think *many* of my troubles are over now that I have researched and got further advice about how to migrate from Tiger on PowerPC to Snow on Intel. I wiped the whole HD clean and started from scratch and used Migrant Assistant and rebooted with the transferred old account and amazingly, my accounts are there. With all the settings. I have not tested yet. I expect there will still be some minor problems so it is handy to know the above. A kind person emailed me this suggestion this morning: "try CMD + 0 and press the red button." Which was, essentially, Steven's advice. -- dorayme
