sata/esata cable length limits? What are the length limits for sata and esata cables? Can someone point me to a source for PC adapter bracket that brings a sata connector (not esata) out to the back of a PC. sata hard drive ide adapter support query I just recently bought a WD Caviar Blue 320gig Sata2 hard drive. I've looked at some options on hooking up this drive to a win 98se machine based on the IDE hard drive interface. It has an existing 20gig hard drive, Fireball ATA-133 I think (don't remember who makes it) and its running out of drive space... 26 Feb 2010 06:20
On-disk format of fakeraid raid1 Hi all I have knowledge of Linux but not much in Windows. I would like to set up a home server with RAID-1 (2 disks) in Windows, including boot, hence I need to leverage the fakeraid in the mainboard (mainboard which I still have to buy) (*) All will be nice except if/when the mainboard breaks. So I wou... 2 Mar 2010 06:46
External Storage for Laptop I want to add external storage to my Dell Studio XPS. It has a built-in eSATA port so the Seagate FreeAgentXTreme is an attractive choice. However, I would prefer to set up a 3-drive RAID 5 array in order to get fault tolerance. Dell Tech Support stated that the built-in controller supports RAID and the Tech G... 1 Mar 2010 12:31
Adding a fan to external hard drive enclosure? with the pass thru type connector the fan has, you shouldn't need to use a splitter. it works between the power supply and the hard drive, splitters like that are usually for non pass thru additions or cramped space, which may be the case with the enclosure. if it is, then you will definitely need it. let us know... 19 Feb 2010 19:58

bad sectors on a mybook WD usb drive Hi. I've lost some data on a 2 tb WD mybook usb drive. When I did a full scan, it found something like 3 mb in bad sectors. However, when I reformatted the drive, somehow all bad sectors were recovered. Apparently, there is some redundancy in diskspace, so it can allocate some of that extra space to substitute... 23 Feb 2010 09:02
