When I copy an image from IE on the local PC, then try to paste it into Word
on the remote session, the Paste is available, but nothing happens. Then I
bring up Paint in the remote session, do a paste there, and the image shows
up. Then go back into Word, and the paste now works there.
Is there any way I can fix this?

More info, if you first copy/paste some text from local to remote, that
works, then after that images also work. But it's a pain to have to "kick
start" it like that...
