I am in Australia, US keyboard.

No problem, thanks for the above in any case.

Definitely US, I checked with F4 on boot. Seems however to default to
UK keyboard for next boot. Wonder if some Dell Bios peculiarity for
the Australian market?

Thanks, that fixed it.

Found out, no it is not off line.

Thanks for your help.

Check the keyboard setting under YaST2 -> Hardware -> Language. Also,
for KDE, check it under System Settings -> Region & Language ->
Keyboard Layout. There are several Dell layouts available, and you can
always pick a suitable generic layout

Neither of those exact options available here, or am I missing
something?

What keyboard are you using? Perhaps it doesn't return the same scan codes
as a US keyboard.

>Question, how to fix?

First check the scan code sent by the upshift numeric keys, ";" and
upshift ";". Also, check what you get for AltGr-1 through AltGr-0. I would
expect AltGr-4 to be (GBP) and AltGr-E to be (Euro).

>There is a $ on the keyboard above "5".

Not $ (USD) above 4 and % (per cent) above 5?
