CCleaner has an option to remove RPs but you would have to tell it to do so (I believe). Do your RPs show up okay in the built in XP System Restore calendar function? To be on the safe side I would do this when you have the time and then periodically: Perform some scans for malicious software, then fix any remaining issues: Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs: Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/ SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/ They can be uninstalled later if desired.
From: D. on 12 Feb 2010 17:57 Thanks Jose , I first thought it might be spyware/malware and ran both of those programs with no luck . I do have a restore point in XP SR so I believe I should be O.K. . Thanks Again , D. SR is a popular target for malware. The RPs should accumulate on your calendar. XP would like to make at least one new RP at least every 24 hours if the system is running and idle, so you may have one every day. You may go several days without one. You may have more than one a day depending on what is going on. You can also make one manually just to be sure that part works. Poor SR... - it is so misunderstood sometimes. |
