They're getting the parents ready for shelling out $200-400 for text books every year once the kids hit college. :-) Seriously, though, if you buy your kid one calculator in high school, having to buy another one for college is really a very small price to pay compared to the overall costs of college. I'd rather see the government subsidize colleges such that tuition is $100 less per year than try to get every teacher in every school to agree on one single calculator that should last kids from arithmetic in grade school through finite field theory as a post doc. You also have to realize that giving beginning students a "high end" calculator can be a real turn-off, since -- despite the designer's best efforts -- it's almost impossible to add large amounts of functionality without adding some degree of complexity to the device. (One of the reasons the iPod is so popular despite lacking many features that its competitors have is due to the fact that the lack of features allows for a simpler interface!)

Opera's market share (on desktops) is low, but it's a better browser (the best, IMO), it's continually being made even more powerful, and it's been heading for cell phones and PDAs for quite a while, so perhaps they have something there. http://www.opera.com
