From: Potri on 15 Mar 2010 08:17 In my system it takes minimum 5-10 minutes to display shutdown window after I choose the shutdown option in start menu. when I try it to logoff it happens immediately but shutdown takes the same time when I tried from ctrl+alt+del screen also. Even I resetted the profile and tried, still the same problem persists.
From: R. McCarty on 15 Mar 2010 08:26 Check the System Event log. It sounds like a service is having issues stopping. Also there is a MS add-on service, User Profile Hive Cleanup that is specifically designed to help with shutdown issues. From: Potri on 16 Mar 2010 10:13 I checked the event log and also installed UPHclean setup but not able to trace out the issue. And all the running process seems to be normal processes. And this problem only occurs if I have the machine in switched "on" state for more than 15 - 30 mins, it doesn't occurs when I restart and try to shutdown. The shutdown window appears immediately for first 15 - 30 mins, later on if i try to open the shutdown window it takes more than 5 mins to display. Please suggest. Regards, Potri Raaja.M. "R. From: R. McCarty on 16 Mar 2010 10:25 Some applications are known to have shutdown issues. One way to verify it's an active/running service is to try Safe Mode. Without any 3rd-party drivers or applications you'd be using a "Minimalist Config". If Shutdown work as expected from Safe Mode then you'll know it's something running under Normal mode. There is just no way to direct you to a specific application as the cause of the stalled shutdown. Another approach would be to create a new profile/User Account. If that new account shuts down correctly then you've isolated the issue to something in the day-to-day profile's Registry Hive. Hi, As I have already mentioned in my question, I did resetting of the profile and also as you have mentioned in the last reply, the issue doesn't occurs in "Safe Mode". And also I used the option (File > shutdown > shutdown) in "procexp.exe" file to shutdown and with this it shuts down immediately, why is this happening ? Both the shutdown option in start menu and in procexp.exe is the same, I guess. Please clarify. Regards, Potri Raaja.M. "R. McCarty" wrote: > Some applications are known to have shutdown issues.
