I have a laptop that used to be joined to a defunct domain and I'm trying to
join it to a current SBS domain.

When I attempt to unjoin I get the following error:

The following error occurred attempting to unjoin the domain "Domain.local":
The local security authority database contains an internal inconsistency.

The laptop is running Windows XP Pro SP3 and the server is running SBS 3002
R2. Both machines are fully patched.

WOW Microsoft is not much help
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/w2000Msgs/3901.mspx?mfr=true

Have you tried Logging into the local PC's ADMINISTRATOR account and make
changes there?

Russ

Hi Russ,

I saw that Microsoft article and did, indeed, restore from a backup with no
success.

I'm also logging on as the local Administrator, again, with no success.
