Based on your response to Rod's questions, I'd say something became corrupt to the point where the current file cannot be recovered. I suggest you start with the last version that will open, perhaps run the corruption clearing process on it (i.e. FAQ 43), and then rebuild the file from there. Not what you wanted to hear, but this type of occurrence is the best reason to do periodic backups.
