OP on another computer ...

Its a Compaq laptop w 2GB running XP Pro. The target device is
a Cyclone III EP3C5E144C7, one of the smaller devices. In the
two weeks I've been using Quartus II it crashed about every
other day. This doesn't include the 10 times the state machine
editor went "poof" while drawing a simple state diagram and some
minor problems. Nonetheless, I am impressed with what is does.
