Where I am living I must use Skype for all my calls. People on my
domestic calls are having trouble hearing me. If I move the input
volume slider all the way to the right, it will automatically adjust
itself downward. This is apparently to avoid a redline sound
distortion. Is there anyway to turn this auto adjust off? Running
10.6.2.

What are you using to transmit your voice?

Well, I have a MacBook 2.0 GHz. I have bought MacSpeech, so I own the
high qulality Plantronics headset that they combine with it. I am
living in Costa Rica now. I only have a problem with people receiving
my calls with very low volume in Costa Rica. I do not have the problem
in North America or Europe.

When I make a domestic call, I bring up the input sound pref and hold
the slide all the way to the right with the mouse clicker, otherwise it
will go to the left and I am told that my voice becomes very faint. I
have this problem whether I use the head set or just the laptop mic.

I have this image of Garrett Morris doing the translation for the
hearing impaired- an old SNL skit with him in a small inset, repeating
in a shouting voice what Dan Akroyd or whomever is reading as the news.
Sorry, not much help to you.

Are you saying that calls you make to Norte America from CR are all
right? Or just that everything works fine when you're IN N.A./Europe?
Sorry, I don't have any technical ideas beyond speaking closer and
louder, not that those are exactly tech.....
