Sounds like some of the ugly issues that bothered me on occasion with TuxOnIce...did you run the series of tests suggested (as I recall) on the TuXOnIce website? There were serious issues that could arise if the saved image was somehow incompatible with the current running kernel -- real bad, complete lockups and corrupted file systems were possible. Again, lots of warnings to this effect on the TuxOnIce website. Steve

The PM tools have really matured a lot with the more recent kernels, so I found I didn't need the extra bits that TuxOnIce offered. I currently have no problems suspending (to RAM) or hibernating (to disk) my Dell D820, using the KDE klaptop widget as a front-end to the process. The ACPI stuff "just works" (such as closing the lid to cause a suspend). Of course, you may be having some hardware-specific problems that I'm not seeing with my Dell -- perhaps some RAM issues? Maybe a memtest is in order... Steve
