LXC - Failing to start
Bit stuck here - anyone using LXC? I seem to have it all setup according to what I can find online. I can lxc-create a container, but when I try to run it, I get this: lxc-start: failed to clone(0x6c020000): No space left on device lxc-start: No space left on device - failed to fork into a new namespace lxc-... 23 Feb 2010 09:03

Curl RTE only runs as root
I installed the Curl runtime environment from http://www.curl.com/download/rte/ so that I could play the online version of the board game Puerto Rico. It works fine if I'm root, but not as an ordinary user. I presume that I need to change the permissions on something. Anyone got any idea what? Browsing the fi... 21 Feb 2010 17:10

Flaky GUI
Does anyone else find the Gnome desktop incredibly 'delicate' ? On a number of occasions I've had the desktop and toolbars go stupid for no apparent reason (on quite different machines). The only way I've found of recovering this situation is to delete all the .gnome files then reboot. The latest is a case in ... 2 Mar 2010 13:33
removing duplicate newsgroup articles and other stuff with thunderbird
Gradwell newsgroup seems to have thrown a wobbly. Overnight I got large numbers of unread newsgroup articles. Thunderbird 3 coped with reasonably well. If I rebuilt the index for each newsgroup some semblance of normality was achieved. Later on thunderbird just seemed to freeze. It was taking 100% of the CPU. ... 7 Feb 2010 16:29
Firewire [was: Re: Burning music CDs]
Meanwhile, at the uk.comp.os.linux Job Justification Hearings, Jim Lesurf chose the tried and tested strategy of: I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 on a Shuttle as well as Xubuntu 9.10 on an Acer laptop. The Shutlle has a 'firewire' (4 pin) socket and the HD P2 has a (6 pin) socket. The HD P2 documents say it should a... 6 Feb 2010 05:20
