Buying a laptop with no OS (to install Linux on). Hi, I'm intending to buy a new laptop and install Linux on it. Searching around I've found it very hard to find a laptop for sale with no operating system on it. In fact a company called Novatech (which I've used before) is the only one I can find. Are there any other companies that you guys know of that sell... 2 Apr 2010 14:51
Virtualization Help Request Virtualization Help Request --------------------------- I use virtualization a lot under Linux but I came across a problem. I got eSata everywhere now and when I move drives from one place to the next, if I want to boot from it, I have to go into the BIOS and it boots entirely from that drive. Self-hosted Gmail clone I was wondering about setting up some kind of webmail app, more for access to old message archives than new ones. I've played with a few, notably lurker and squirrelmail, but they're all rather clunky. I don't really want to host in the cloud on Gmail et al. So I had a look out there to see what else was around... 23 Mar 2010 12:30

The card worked fine in my earlier 2008.1 machine but in my new higher performance machine it is dreadful. I have eliminated the application as I experei... 21 Mar 2010 15:05

I can do this with good old inetd, but i was wondering if there were other ways to do it. Is there a way to do socket/bind/listen/accept directly from bash? Or any other const... 30 Mar 2010 09:26
Getting WinXP off a FakeRaid setup I have a machine with 2 x 250G drives, using FakeRaid on which Windows XP is installed (that's how it arrived, not by design). I was going to use Wubi to install Ubuntu so I didn't have to mess around shrinking the NTFS partition but Wubi doesn't (currently) work with FakeRaid setups. I could go back to my origi... 19 Mar 2010 14:23
