I will certainly have a look at this stuff, as I am planning to use
SL811HS in my CS/A65 machine http://www.6502.org/users/andre/csa
- and I have an adapter to use the boards of it on the C64 (and one
planned for the PET).

And it's good to know that it's GPL's :-)
