So...

Assuming the release team stays on schedule, the final will hit one week
from now. Today, they made available the "release candidate."

I'm posting about this in particular because this is an LTS (Long-Term
Support) release. For those here thinking about making Linux a part of
their desktop/laptop strategy, LTS releases are "nice" because there's
(theoretically) extra effort put into providing a stable release and
it's supported for 3 years (desktop) instead of the normal 18 months.

Ubuntu One was one of the first things I uninstalled, after
rhythmbox (for calling home with a list of my mp3s) and movie player(no
native codecs) (replaced by audacious and VLC respectively).
Working well enough. (I up-distroed from 8.04 directly, into 10.04
early alfa).

"Ubuntu lucid" an African phrase meaning "even Bears can install it"
