From: ridgernr2 on 30 Jun 2007 11:00 Do you use Spybot S & D? If so, turn off Spybot and try again. If you use the Tea Timer feature of Spybot, be sure to turn that off as well. You may have to go into the Task Manager to "kill" Tea Timer. Once I turned off Spybot, Microsoft Update works like a charm. Hope this helps. From: bllapitan on 30 Jun 2007 11:36 Yes, I am using Spybot but I use it only when I scan and remove spywares, etc. How do you turn it off? I don't know about the Tea Timer feature. Thanks for the fast response. I am still having problems!!!! -- "ridgernr2" wrote: > Do you use Spybot S & D? If so, turn off Spybot and try again. From: ridgernr2 on 1 Jul 2007 11:40 When you hover your mouse over the icons in your tray area near the time, do you see one that says it's for Spybot S-D Resident? It will look like a silhouette of a person in front of a white square with blue top. if you DO NOT see such an icon, Tea Timer is not running and Spybot is not running all the time like mine does. If that is the case I can't help. Search the newsgroup for the error code in the upper right of the page you quoted in your first post. If you DO see such an icon, right click on it. Then left click on the menu opton Run Spybot S & D. Choose Tools in the menu on on the left of the Spybot window. Next click on the Resident option in the Tools window. Uncheck any boxes with check marks in them. Exit Spybot. If the icon is still there, right click on it then left click Exit Spybot S & D-Resident. Restart the computer then try to update Windows again. This page describes how to disable http://www.malwarehelp.org/how-to-enabledisable-spybot-teatimer.html You will have to scroll down to find the disable instructions. If Spybot doesn't seem to be the problem try to disable any firewall, antivirus or other anti-spyware program that runs all the time. Good luck.
