I'm using Unisoin 2.0.4 and frequently when I mark messages as read the
same messages will appear as unread on a subsequent visit to Unision.
This happens whether I select "Group > Mark All Messages Read" or
whether I just highlight a few messages and then select "Message > Mark
as Read", or even if I one-by-one read the unread messages. I'm curious
as to whether others have experienced the same glitch.

Yeah, I'm getting this too, and can't seem to follow the logic of when
it does and when it doesn't happen. Do you have a number of people
kill-filed? I don't think they are handling this right, and never have.
I have some real blabber-mouths killfiled (not here of course!), and
find that it breaks the thread to another wherever the blabber mouth
cut in. So if the killfiled posted message 3, 8 and 12, I'll have one
thread of two posts, one of posts 5 through 7, another of post 9
thorugh 11, and one from 13 on. It looks like my messages arent't
threaded.

I've wondered if the situation you're referring to might be related.

Here's another curiousity. I post message 8 and later retrieve
messages and mine is now the first listed among the unread. I read it,
but flag it as "Unread"so it will appear the next time I'm there (a
quick reference point for those who slice out inconvient truths in
quoting). On the next pass, I've found that messages read earlier than
my own will come up.

There's a few oddities in here but I can make them predictable yet.

I havent't a single killfile so that can't be the cause of the marking
as read problem I'm experiencing.

That I don't recall experiencing.

Another oddity is that I have rules that should highlight with color
any postings I have made but the highlights often will drop off.

My various "oddities" have all been reported to Panic.
